I feel calm as I head for the city,
For I told you, I am a farmer's kid.
But who brought this calm, if not a storm!
That we churned in our bed with fire and tear.
You waver on your earth, tither and hither,
And your cold dreams of doom and despair,
A volcano, fast impatient waiting to erupt,
But I see a belly of fire to birth our peace!
You watch all your steps, latch all doors,
To a caution, born ago in pre-natal times.
You ask me to care beyond what I care,
It's hard, often I don't know to care a fire!
The song we hear all night is not a song,
But your breath waving in love!
The food that we eat, often lose it's punch,
But with your taste of life it tastes all yummy!
Beloved, learning to love is learning to die,
If death hasn't taught it, yes love will indeed!
As we learn to fly this treacherous terrain,
Peace I know in the storm, for we churned every storm!
