Good Night

My beloved,
As I rock you in my lap,
With a lullaby to the past,
You wink your eyes,
For an angel with feathers,
Who weather you from all storms,
To tell a story of a girl and a sparrow!

A little sparrow is freed,
From its starving cage of loss!
A little girl wanders all street for a toy,
For it never had liked a toy to love!

She showed me a toy that she saved all while,
I asked why, how and many a query,
She had no answers but a worry,
That worry was not any good to a kid.

I gave her silence and space,
Arranged all her toys as she asked,
She played all day long like an adept,
And came for food when hungry,
I fed her with sweet morsels of love,
Until her last attempt in game!

I saw her panic with a fading sun,
I brought her a home and a mom,
Guarded her bed off her door,
Like a monk up in mountain,
With the beads of prayer and fasts!

I saw her talk loud to an angel,
And answer all my queries with many breaths.
And then under a heavy lid of an old man's eyes,
I slipped in deep sleep to a snore!

Now she gets up annoyed at my snore,
And rocks me out off my bed,
And smiles at me,
And cry with me,
And play with me,
And I hear her say: "I love you my dad",
'Oh I am not her dad', I say,
And wake up from sleep to see you sleep!!
